VS1:
A year ago, where was I?
Shovelling snow under a star filled sky,
Thinking ‘bout blessings of a Saviour born,
All shattered by the headlines of the following morn.
Who’d have thought that could happen here?
Well, so much for our Christmas cheer.
It’s one of those things that nobody thinks could happen to you.
CH:
For if a life is what you’ll lose, what will you do?
What if your heart is on the line, but can’t get through?
And if your cries out in the night aren’t helping you,
You don’t really get it, do ya?
Don’t let it happen to ya.
VS2:
Years ago, I remember I,
Would call for help, never be denied,
Never thought twice, picking up the phone,
Now you’d better be dying in a place that they know.
Could a repeat of what happened here,
Probably ruin your entire year?
No! It’s one of those things, I’m sure you still think wouldn’t happen to you.
CH:
For if a life is what you’ll lose, what will you do?
What if your heart is on the line, but can’t get through?
And if your cries out in the night aren’t helping you,
You don’t really get it, do ya?
Don’t let it happen to ya.
BR:
Still the problems get worse.
Until someone gets hurt,
Only then will there be a change.
CH: (Instrumental + tag)
You don’t really get it, do ya?
Don’t let it happen...
VS3:
A year from now, where will I be?
Hopefully enjoying security
In knowing that help would be on its way.
No more waiting, no more lives to pay.
What have we learned from our lesson here?
What will we face in the coming year?
It’s one of those things I’m starting to think might happen to you.
CH:
For if a life is what you’ll lose, what will you do?
What if your heart is on the line, but can’t get through?
And if you cry out in the night, no help for you,
When will you get it through ya?
What’s it gonna take to move ya?
You don’t really get it, do ya?
Don’t let it happen...
